KPA and Automotive Lift Institute Renew Compliance Training Initiative for Service Bay Safety

Lafayette, Colo. – March 17, 2021 – Today, KPA and the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) announced their continued compliance training initiative. To help protect auto service technicians at car dealerships, ALI’s Lifting It Right online lift safety training course remains conveniently housed and facilitated within KPA’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) software platform, Vera Suite.

“The national safety standard for lift operation, inspection and maintenance mandates that lift operators receive proper training on how to use their lifts. Safety officials across the U.S. and Canada are looking for evidence of lift safety training compliance,” says R.W. “Bob” O’Gorman, ALI president. “ALI’s agreement with KPA ensures that technicians across North America can access the Lifting It Right certificate course, which will help prevent costly accidents in the shop and keep employees safe.”

Developed by ALI, the lift industry safety watchdog for more than 75 years, Lifting It Right covers the proper way to lift a vehicle without causing injury or property damage. The interactive, online course provides guidance on spotting and lifting a vehicle, as well as preparing the service bay, maintaining load stability, lowering the lift and lift maintenance. It’s available in English and Spanish and can be completed in an hour or less. At the end, a certificate of completion is stored online for easy access if the dealership needs to produce training records.

KPA’s role is to make sure the course is easily accessible to the thousands of automotive customers who use Vera Suite’s award-winning training catalog and learning management system. In 2020, the Lifting It Right training was completed over 21,000 times and was one of the most popular courses.

“KPA is committed to helping dealers maintain safe and compliant workplaces, and this longstanding partnership is part of that effort,” said Chris Fanning, president and CEO of KPA. “Together with ALI, we can help service employees stay safe and focus their energy on their jobs.”

ALI and KPA have been committed to this safety initiative for six years. With over 30 years in the EHS and compliance industry, supporting dealerships, collision centers, and fleet management, KPA provides compliance training, software, and safety consulting services. ALI is credentialed by ANSI (Accreditation ID #0584). ALI sponsors three ANSI/ALI lift safety standards, runs ANSI-accredited certification programs for automotive lifts and automotive lift inspectors, and promotes lift safety and lift safety training through Lifting It Right, educational outreach programs and other safety materials.
